Conversation 80:  Top 5 in 5: Up Close and Personal Conversation with Anne Elizabeth

Each week, I put out my Weekly Wisdom Blog which includes my Top 5 Nutrition Noshes: Wisdom, Weekly Conversations, Week in Review, Workout Playlist of the Week and What I Love Right Now. At the end of each month, I want to get more up close and personal with you all on the other side of the airwaves. I will be recapping my crazy, delicious and random as hell adventures as well as having a conversation with you all on this side of the mic. It’s my Top 5 in 5. The first day of summer was last week and I am looking forward to the beautiful (and hot) months ahead. Enjoy!

Conversation 79:  The Story, Journey and Passion of Allison Tropf, MS, RD, CSSD

“If I am interested in something, I try not to let things scare me. There are definitely are things that are scary, like starting a private practice (that was super scary). I just tell people, if you have an interest in something and you want to try it, don’t look at how long it’s going to take you to get there or don’t look at the end result. You have to literally take one step at a time, one teeny tiny step.” - Allison Tropf, MS, RD, CSSD

Today’s conversation is with Allison Tropf, a registered dietitian who specializes in eating disorders, sports nutrition and is passionate about helping individuals develop a healthy relationship with food and their bodies.

At the end of April, I headed to the beautiful state of Michigan to speak with the Michigan Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics during their Annual Meeting. Each time I travel, I love having the opportunity to meet new people and hopefully podcast with them. Allison became my new friend in Michigan and we had the best conversation. Allison’s passions for sports nutrition and eating disorders come from a deeply rooted personal experiences in both. She was a collegiate athlete who struggled with her own eating disorder and shares her story of recovery and her purpose of helping individuals like herself. She bravely started her own practice and is now living her professional dreams. Allison provides a lot of great insight and advice on starting a private practice and sincerely shares it all from a genuine personal place.

Please enjoy my conversation with Allison.

Conversation 78:  The Story, Journey and Passion of Susie Roberts, RDN, LD, CWPD, Certified Intrinsic Coach®

“I have learned, as I keep moving forward, a lot of times you come to a fork in the road. You have this opportunity or you have this opportunity or maybe the other is you just stay where you are. And what I have realized is,  you can stay just where you are. That’s kind of the safe option, but you also have to weight if you are happy there, do you feel valued there, do they support and believe in what you’re doing and what your purpose is there.” - Susie Roberts, RDN, LD, CWPD, Certified Intrinsic Coach®

Today’s conversation is with Susie Roberts, a second career dietitian who was attending the same college as her teenage son when she purposely and passionately choose dietetics.

A few years into my retail dietetic career, I was contacted by Susie asking if she could interview me on my role as a registered dietitian. When we met and started talking, I kept finding myself wanting to interview her about all the professional experiences she has had in her lifetime. All of her jobs actually lead her to becoming a dietitian, without her really even knowing it until much later in life. Susie is the perfect example of it is never to late in your life to do what you love. She is also the perfect example a very passionate dietitian who I know has inspired many other individuals along the way and is now using her expertise in leadership in her current job.

Please enjoy my conversation with Susie.

Conversation 77:  The Story, Journey and Passion of Emily Richter, RD2Be

“One of my favorite models is we have 2 ears and one mouth for a reason. It is super important that you listen, but you also have your mouth and you should be able to talk and you should be able to share and have input. So take that and turn it into however it speaks to you.” - Emily Richter, RD2Be

Today’s conversation is with Emily Richter, and RD2Be who decided to change her career completely, go back to school and become an RD.

This is part 2 of my Wisconsin Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics adventure, where I bring to you today, a very inspiring RD2Be. Emily was the moderator for my session at the meeting and was also the recipient of the Outstanding Dietetic Student Award at this years meeting. Emily has a fantastic story of how she was inspired to go back to school after someone she knew saw something in her she didn’t. After going back to school, she chose dietetics as her future second career. I am excited to share with you her story so far. This is a great podcast to listen to if you are thinking about making a change in your professional life.

Please enjoy my conversation with Emily.
