Conversation 128:  May #EmbracetheHellYeah Conversation

What makes you say “hellyeah” at the end of the day?  For any question I am asked or I ask myself, if I cannot 100% say hell yeah as my answer then it is a hell no. I want you to embrace saying yes with your whole heart and soul by enjoying every part of your authentic life. At the end of each month, I want to get more up close and personal with you all on the other side of the airwaves and share with you more about how my podcast guests are I are doing our best to #embracethehellyeah.  This month I am sharing more about my passion of skincare and skin cancer awareness.

Conversation 127:  The Story, Journey and Passion - so far - of Deanne Lynch, RD2Be

“I knew when I went to culinary school, it wasn’t the end-all for me. I didn’t want to be a chef at a restaurant working until midnight or on the line. I loved food so much and I wanted to learn as much as I could about it.”  Deanne, RD2Be

Today’s conversation is with Deanne Lynch, a RD2Be who chose dietetics as her 3rd career will be starting her dietetic internship in a couple weeks.

Deanne and I connected after the Michigan Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Spring Conference by  sending me a lovely email about her passion for dietetics and I knew I wanted to learn more about her journey. Not only is this a 3rd career for Deanne, she is also a spouse and a mother to 2 children. Deanne was a member of the Marine Corps, went to culinary school and along the way discovered her passion for dietetics. She will be starting her internship with Iowa State University in a couple of weeks and I am very happy she shared her journey with me so far.

Please enjoy my conversation with Deanne.

Conversation 126:  The Story, Journey and Passion of Kelsey Wigans, MS, RDN, LD

“I really like to be in the garden and just being outside. There is something fulfilling about gardening, getting your hands dirty and pulling weeds. It humbling and fulfilling at the same time.” Kelsey Wigans, MS, RDN, LD

Today’s conversation is with Kelsey Wigans, a registered dietitian and Seed to Table Manager for Gilmore City-Bradgate Schools in Iowa.

You may be wondering what a Seed to Table Manager is and so was I, when my previous podcast guest Ann Parker mentioned Kelsey for the podcast. This is a great conversation about how a registered dietitian can make an impact with children when it comes to food, health and being an active teacher in the schools about agriculture and where food comes from. Kelsey is doing the most amazing things at her school, branching out much further than just a school garden, including grant writing, a teaching kitchen and a new upcoming Monarch butterfly house.

Please enjoy my conversation with Kelsey.

Conversation 125:  The Story, Journey and Passion of Dezi Abeyta, RDN and owner of Foodtalk Nutrition

“Building the connections to the people you are working with is the most important thing because these are the people that might hire you someday. These are the people that might refer you. It’s all about your connections to people.” Dezi Abeyta, RDN

Today’s conversation is with Dezi Abeyta, a registered dietitian from Tucson, AZ  who has a passion to inspire men to prioritize their family time by teaching and coaching them to utilize nutrition and exercise tactics to boost their emotional, mental, and physical availability for their family.

I think it is hard to be a male in the female-dominated dietetics field and that is why Dezi is an inspiration to many for his awesome and unique contribution to the field. Dezi shares his very personal journey to dietetics which always circles around the importance of food and family. He has started his own business, Foodtalk Nutrition, with a purpose to help men along their wellness journey through his own experience and expertise. Throughout the podcast, he shares many nuggets of wisdom for all dietitians and how the power of connection means everything.

Please enjoy my conversation with Dezi.
